I am Dr. Aditya Sharma, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Navi Mumbai, India. I earned my Ph.D. in Botany from the School of Biotechnology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, where my research focused on deciphering plant–microbe interactions through multi-omics approaches to develop sustainable solutions for agriculture.
I qualified several highly competitive national examinations, including CSIR-JRF (AIR 34), UGC-JRF (AIR 81), DBT-JRF, GATE-XL (AIR 254), and was awarded the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) and the Institute of Eminence–External Research Experience (IoE-ERE) Fellowship during my doctoral research.
My research lies at the interface of plant microbiomes, microbial ecology, plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), rhizosphere biology, metagenomics, metabolomics, microbial genomics, and sustainable agriculture. I am particularly interested in understanding how beneficial microorganisms enhance crop productivity and resilience under environmental stresses such as drought. My work integrates microbiology with next-generation sequencing, computational biology, and multi-omics technologies to uncover microbial functions that can be translated into climate-smart agricultural practices.
Over the years, I have gained experience in microbial isolation and characterization, molecular biology, genome annotation, metagenomic analysis, metabolomics, bioinformatics, and statistical data analysis. I enjoy combining experimental biology with computational approaches to answer complex biological questions and develop practical solutions for sustainable crop production.
I have authored several peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals, including Current Plant Biology, World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Environmental Sustainability, and Archives of Microbiology, along with scholarly book chapters. My research has collectively attracted growing citations and reflects my commitment to producing high-quality, impactful science.
I am always interested in interdisciplinary collaborations in plant science, microbiology, microbial biotechnology, microbiome research, bioinformatics, genomics, metabolomics, and sustainable agriculture. My long-term goal is to establish an internationally recognized research program that bridges fundamental science with practical agricultural innovations to improve food security and environmental sustainability.
